FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Announcements - May 2007

  • Parkway Maintenance - You probably have noticed there has been very little maintenance done to the parkway. We had an oral agreement with the landscape contractor used last year and we were in receipt of a written contract. That contract contained error and was returned for corrections. During that period the contractor mowed one time and promised that an additional mowing would be completed on Friday, May 18. The contractor did not mow on that date and submitted an e-mail to the Southbridge Community Association's (SCA) management company on Sunday evening that there were declining the opportunity to maintain the parkway. To say the least it has been a scramble the past couple of days.

This week (May 21st) the Hamlet HOA took a proactive process to secure a new contractor. As of Tuesday there is a contractor on board to mow Southbridge Parkway this week on a time & material basis. That contractor and four additional contractors have been offered the opportunity to bid on maintenance for the balance of the season. The SCA Board will review all proposals and select a contractor by early next week. The primary issues to address for that contractor will be mowing, weed control and plant bed maintenance.  Contact the Hamlet board with questions.

  • Neighborhood Watch Meeting - There will be a meeting on Wednesday, May 30th at 7 pm to organize a neighborhood watch for our neighborhood.  It will be held at the Shakopee Police Department at 475 Gorman Street.  50% of homes need to be represented, so please try to attend if you are interested in a block program being set up for your block.  Kids are welcome to attend.  Contact Scott Kneller for further information.

  • Spam on Announcement List - our Hamlet announcement list looks like it is being hit by spam.  We are working with our web host to curtail this, but be aware of the following:
    •  Announcements are generally sent from Jenny Ames, and will NEVER contain attachments
    •  We will never solicit you to buy something, or authorize anyone to use the list in order to sell you something.
    •  If you are ever in doubt of an email's validity, please send an email to the board.  We will send you our latest announcement(s).

  • Curfews Enforced in Shakopee - Youth age 17 and under should not be out between 10:30 pm and 6:00 am unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.  There is an exception for students who are lawfully attending, going to or returning from school, church or community sponsored athletic, musical or social activities or events, or place of employment.  Shakopee police officers enforce the curfew ordinance seven days a week.  Many juveniles caught out after curfew are either released to their parents or taken tot he Scott County Juvenile Facility. Please phone in suspected curfew violations to Scott County Dispatch at 445-1411.

  • Summer Reminder - now that it's summer, be diligent about closing your garage doors.  Last year our neighborhood experienced several thefts when garage doors were left open.  Earlier this spring there were also several bikes left unattended in various parts of Southbridge. If you see any suspicious activity, call 445-1411.
