FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Southbridge Parkway Landscaping ProjectsSummer/Fall 2005 - Currently, only the center median of our 1.5 mile parkway is irrigated and because of this the trees and grass along the sides of the parkway struggle every year. The Southbridge Community Association (SCA) had entered into a contract last year with an irrigation contractor to irrigate the sides of the parkway. The SCA also awarded bids with other vendors to replace many dead and cut down trees as well as to replace the vegetation in the center median end caps with new flowers and plants. Both the tree and plant replacement were contingent upon the completion of the irrigation system, which was supposed to have been completed by May 1st, 2005. On July 15th the SCA was forced to terminate the original irrigation agreement, after it became clear that the irrigation contractor was unable to complete the work within the agreed upon budget and time frame. The SCA recently signed a contract with Quality One Irrigation as the new irrigation vendor and the work on the parkway has already begun. Quality One Irrigation estimates that the job will be complete in less than two weeks. Once the irrigation system is fully operational, properly adjusted and on proper timing, the SCA will be scheduling the tree and plant replacement. Due to the seasonal timing, tree and plant replacement will likely occur in late summer or fall. The SCA is pleased to report that all of the above parkway improvements are being performed with existing SCA funds and there will be no increase in association dues as a result of these improvements. (Thank you to Calvin Miller, President of SCA and President of Savanna Oaks HOA for the information for this update.) |
